After a huge success of Plague Inc: Evolved there have been many clones that tried to follow the success of the original game but none of them was successful. Why? Frankly said, because they did not bring anything new to the genre and only copied the well-developed mechanics and the idea from the original game. After 2 years this has finally changed with the release of another heavily inspired biomedical simulator called Bio Inc. Redemption where you have the power to save or kill your patients according to your goals and preferences. Originally, Bio Inc. Redemption was a game created for mobile devices but later after a huge number of requests from players, developers from DryGin Studios brought us a polished Steam version with an improved system of diseases, animations, and UI.
Bio Inc. Redemption offers two distinct playstyles that differ in game's objectives which can be either saving or killing the patient. To successfully progress you need to harvest resources named Bio Points that randomly appear across the patient’s body. There are 3 tiers of the resources which give 1, 2 or 3 Bio Points that are later spent in the “biomap” for new upgrades and traits. The process of harvesting is simply done just by clicking on the icon.
Throughout the game, you have to manage different biological systems of your patient (the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, skeletal, nervous, renal, immune, and muscular system) as well as the overall health to make sure everything goes smoothly. Good timing and patience are the keys in this game so try to not rush anything because the subject is always ready to protect himself and start curing the disease with medical help. The more you try to kill the subject, the bigger effort goes towards saving the patient from doctors.
In general, the graphics are surprisingly detailed, colorful and very realistic from the side of medical accuracy. Bio Inc. Redemption also excels in animations that make the interactions with the subject feel very real and vivid. The same can be said about sound effects that are often terrifying enough to stimulate your own feelings of unease. That being said, the audiovisual part here is a good example of modern, polished graphics with high-quality sound effects and background music.
Over 600 actual diseases, symptoms, diagnostic tests and treatments in two different campaigns and recently added multiplayer mode is what Bio Inc. Redemption offers for the humble price of 12.99€. Each campaign consists of nine cases with four different difficulty levels and the new adaptive AI system which provides hours of unique fun with great replay value.
